About Henning Trollbäck, Swedish artist

Henning Trollbäck is a ceramic artist based in Stockholm, Sweden. Coming from a career in illustration, Henning learned the skills of the ceramic.
His work is an ongoing exploration of the possibilities of ceramics, decoration and art history. Firmly rooted in the Scandinavian modernist design ceramic tradition, Henning Trollbäck brings a painter's sensibility to form — treating each surface as both vessel and canvas.
Each piece is handmade and hand-painted, combining traditional ceramic techniques with a distinctive illustrative style. Birds, butterflies, flowers, and landscapes appear across plates, bowls, and vases — each one unique.
September 2025 saw the opening of Henning Trollbäck's first solo exhibitions, taking place in Kyoto and Tokyo simultaneously. Invited by minä perhonen, this officially marked his transition from illustration to the world of ceramics.

Henning holds a degree in Illustration, and has worked in the field since graduating 2012 from Konstfack, University College of Art and Design.
Spanning illustration, calligraphy and graphic design, his work include picture books, book covers, several series of stamps for the Swedish Postal Service PostNord, and collaboration with Japanese fashion and textile designer Akira Minagawa and his brand minä perhonen.
